Already 5 testers
fieldtester.io now supports five field testers: besides the RAK10701-Plus also the RAK10701-P, the RAK10701-L, the RAK10706 Signal Meter and the Adeunis Field Test Device.
fieldtester.io started with a single device: our RAK10701-Plus, whose display stayed half empty without a matching backend. One week later there are already five field testers that measure over The Things Network with fieldtester.io.
The five testers
RAK10701-Plus
The tester it all started with. fieldtester.io sends it every value it cannot measure itself: uplink signal, distance to the gateways, number of gateways and packet loss. Available with Free, Pro and Business.
RAK10701-P and RAK10701-L
The two predecessors are identical in construction and run the same firmware. They speak a different format than the Plus, which fieldtester.io now handles as well. Here too all values appear on the display, with Free, Pro and Business.
RAK10706 Signal Meter
fieldtester.io recognises RAK's compact tester automatically. Even though its display is small and shows only a few values, with Pro and Business the RAK10706 records all relevant measurements, just like its big brothers. A handy field tester at a small price. Available with Free, Pro and Business.
Adeunis Field Test Device
The FTD is a special case: its display needs no backend, because it takes its values from the network and from its own counting. So fieldtester.io sends nothing back but records its measurements. In the portal you then see all values, including uplink signal, distance, coordinates, gateways and packet loss. That is why the FTD is available with Pro and Business.
How to add your tester
Setup is the same for all five: add the device to your TTN application, enter the fieldtester.io webhook and head out. Our guide takes you through every step.
When a new tester reports for the first time, fieldtester.io usually recognises the model by itself. Where two models look the same, you pick it once in the dashboard.
What's next?
We built in the RAK10706 and the Adeunis FTD from the open source code and the manual. If you use one of these devices, we would especially love to hear from you.
Next we will take a closer look at the RAK7590 Field Tester Pad. Is your tester missing? Tell us which one you use.
